Megan Prazenica is an animator. Beyond that, Megan is from the suburbs of Pittsburgh, PA, a place she once considered "suburban utopia." Megan was an active child and participated in pretty much every sport and/or activity she could get her hands on. To balance out her energetic and extroverted side, young Megan found her introverted and creative outlet through drawing.
In high school Megan spent most of her time in the art room or drawing caricatures of her teachers and peers during class. Despite all of this, Megan was still a pretty good student, and adults told her to become an architect or a doctor or a teacher or an engineer (anything but an artist). She was almost persuaded, but ultimately decided she didn't want to do anything else besides draw. So she attended Edinboro University of PA to pursue animation.
Megan began life at Edinboro with some reservations about whether or not this "art" thing would work out. These fears quickly dissipated when she fell in love with her drawing and design classes. Megan almost considered taking a fine arts route after a summer studying art in Florence, Italy. Then she took her first animation class.
It was then Megan decided that although drawing was pretty sweet, animation was about 1,000,000 times more captivating. Animation allowed her incorporate her energetic, active side in her drawings to creative movement and personality. Megan enjoyed animation so much that she decided to put down the pencil and try a new medium: the computer. Initially, she considered herself technologically hopeless, but soon found that computer animation satisfied the analytical/mathematical side of her brain. Now possessing the skills of both a traditional artist and digital artist, Megan went on to have many pieces in the Edinboro Student Film Festival and won the 2008 George H. Nicholas Scholarship for animation. Megan graduated from Edinboro University with a BFA in Applied Media Arts/Animation and a drawing minor.
Megan is currently an animator for South Park. Her goal is to make an impact in the entertainment industry by becoming the best animator/artist she can be. Megan also enjoys outdoor activities, piano rock, and writing comic books about radioactive carrots. When she isn't making art, Megan generally can be found wrecking havoc on the ultimate frisbee field as her alter-ego "Bacon."
